My parents moved me to Canada. They challenged my autonomy and bruised my dignity. Consequently, I am plotting my parents' demise. Fortunately for me, there is no death penalty here in the Great White North. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start from the beginning...

I'm having an identity crisis. Maybe I need to make like Madonna and transform myself; Celine Dion of the Cat World is very diva, but it just doesn't have the same ring to it.

My mom has been super busy lately. So busy that she hasn't been around to turn on the computer for me so that I can update all my followers about the exciting things that have been happening in my life.

My mom has been on the couch an awful lot lately. I think that she's having trouble coughing up a fur-ball or something. Since my mom hasn't been in the mood to play I've had to make up new games to entertain myself. My favourite one is Sneak Attack.

This game involves me hiding behind the couch on the bean bag...

...and then stealthily attacking from behind!

Usually I try to bop my mom on the shoulder, but the other day she was waiting for me to attack. Instead of getting her I was able to grab the string on her camera.

My mom gets angry when I do Sneak Attack. She'll often say, "We're not playing this game today, Ginga!" But then I go back to being my adorable self and mom stops minding my shenanigans so much.

I never had a bath until yesterday. My mom really wanted to give me one when I first started living in her apartment, because I used to run around outside with a colony of feral cats. But she hestitated because she said that we didn't have a relationship yet and that she didn't want to traumatize me... Yeah right!

Now that I follow my mom everywhere she thinks that I worship her and that I won't mind some water and soap; that it won't be scary for me at all. Oh contraire! May I present to you the evidence in the case of Ginga VS Stupid Humans.

Exhibit A: The camera and posing show that the washing was premeditated.

Exhibit B: My mom is an idiot.

Exhibit C: My first attempt at escaping from the washroom.

Exhibit D: My dad was not only a passive accomplice with a camera, but also took an active role in the crime. I don't care that I stepped on his artworks and got paint all over my hind feet; it could have been licked off. Therefore, the wash cloth he used was totally unnecessary.

Exhibit E: Like I true victim I was left to lick my own wounds.

I also met a very sweet lady, Katie, who rescued Buzzy some years ago.

Katie rescued two other cats, but I didn't get to see them. Instead, my mom took pictures of them to show me.

Souped-Up Scratch Pad All For Me

My mom bought me this souped-up scratch pad. It's half way up the wall in the family room, and has a scratching post on it. The scratching post even has a bird attached to it. Boy do I love hanging out up here.

My mom wrapped my mouse-on-a-string to the scratch post. Me and the mouse play a lot.

All that playing makes me tired. But don't worry, I have my priorities straight; I have no trouble finding time to relax.

Forever Home and a New Name!

Yippee! I have a forever home for ever and ever. My foster mom and dad have decided to adopt me because they love me so much. Clearly the fact that I am extremely lovable helps in this matter.

I also have a new name: Ginga (pronounced Jinga). I'm named after a Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) move, where the capoeirista sways back and forth. Ginga is the most basic move in Capoeira, but always provides strength and stability.

I'm done swaying back and forth between homes. Now I'm staying put!

My new foster mom keeps following me around with this thing that looks like a very large eye. Sometimes the eye thing pretends that it's lightening. Anyway, I don't really mind the attention, especially when there aren't any flashes and the eye just watches me.

Once upon a time, when I was about 7 months old, I was trapped in a trap and my trapper thought that I was feral. I was only acting feral because I was very young and very scared; I was really somebody's cat who got loose, or was let go onto the mean streets. I was fixed and had my ear clipped, but when my kind trapper lady tried to let me go (trap-neuter-release) I jumped back into her arms. That's when the kind trapper lady realized that I was really a domestic kitty and that I needed a foster home.

After staying at a gentle lady's house in Far Rockaway for a few months I moved in with my new foster parents.

I was very shy when I set foot in my new home; I spent a couple of hours behind the radiator.

But now I'm acting very cuddly and lovey. I'm eating well and am using my litter box perfectly. I'm also loving the pets that I get, as well as the occasional belly rub. What a good little Russian Blue kitty I am. Oh, and my name is Ophelia.
